New National Induction course available
The new induction course for the Construction Industry - CPCOHS1001A - White Card, is now available.
As of the 1st of January 2006, the 2.4m falls from height rule has been reduced to 2m for commercial construction.
This means that no person is allowed to work above 2m unless fall protection has been provided. The 3 metre rule for Housing construction remains the same at present.
Obligations of the Employer and Self employed persons have been replaced with the obligations of a "relevant person." All sections of the act and regulations have been altered by removing any reference to the employer and self employed and replaced with "relevant person".
Construction Blue Cards - What's right and What's not?
There seems to be a lot of confusion amongst Safety Officers and Supervisors as to what is acceptable as evidence of having done the blue card course and what's not.
A Ministerial notice from Workplace Health and Safety has allowed induction cards from NSW and Victoria to be valid as blue cards on construction sites in Queensland as of 1/1/2007.
